SMART UNPLUG provides user a secure network and isolate the device to 300,000 most used websites only, immediately disconnect any potential unsafe connections from talking to your devices. This is called network isolation.

You might have heard that to avoid dangerous files and websites, the best thing to do is to blacklist them. Antivirus software, firewalls and even spam filters use blacklists to identify and block files, websites and domains that have been known to cause damage to your computer. You might also have heard that these systems are far from being 100% accurate. It is simple to see why: if my security is blacklist based, my software needs to know in advance which file or website or domain is insecure in order to block it.
Smart Unplug works differently. It creates a safe network in which you can use the internet without risks because every single IP you communicate with has been checked and approved for safety by our AI engine. Any dangerous communication, including a bank phishing website, a malicious script trying to perform unauthorised actions on your device, or malware turning your video camera on – they will be all blocked as they are not part of the whitelist.

In short: no. Because it does not use a blacklist, Smart Unplug already knows what web domain is safe ( currently we monitor 300,000 popular websites) and block the million not on our safelist.
Unlike other tools like antivirus software, Smart Unplug operates at the network level. Smart Unplug gives you access to an AI-generated pool of safe sites, that gets updated and personalised when you keep using it. With Smart Unplug, you keep using your email software, company website and favourite social media and news site without errors or interruptions, while unsafe or potentially unsafe sites and IPs have no chance to contact you.

A VPN is great to hide your IP address, which also helps obfuscate your location and protect your privacy. However, a VPN does not protect you from a website trying to download malware on your device. It does not protect you from phishing websites and does not de-activate any malicious communication between your device and an attacker that is controlling your computer.
The combined action of Smart Unplug and Sandbox Browser deactivates all existing threats by preventing the attacker from communicating and controlling your device. Smart Unplug will block phishing websites and dangerous websites alike, by allowing you to communicate within a safe network only. However, sometimes you might want to visit a website that is not been added to the whitelist. This can happen when the website you want to visit has been newly created, or is not a very popular website, or maybe it is indeed a phishing or dangerous website. Sandbox Browser allows you to visit even these websites in absolute security, by sending you a perfectly generated preview of the site, but without allowing it to load anything on your device: all processing happens in the cloud, on a virtual browser that gets destroyed and regenerated every time you start a new session. VPN is not able to do any of this, which is why Sandbox Browser is different.
